Willie Mack Thigpen, age 87 of Maxton passed away at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte on April 2, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday April 5, 2017 at Wagram Church of God officiated by Rev. Rick Brewer and Rev. Harry Clark. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.
Willie was born on September 8, 1929 in Clarendon County, South Carolina, a son of the late William Huie Thigpen and Bertha Corbett Thigpen. He retired after many years of service as the plant superintendent from Hasty Plywood. He was a faithful member of the Wagram Church of God where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing and he was an avid baseball fan. Mr. Thigpen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother that truly loved sharing time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy “Dot” McKenzie Thigpen of their home; sons, Jerry Thigpen and wife Daphne of Maxton, Jimmy Thigpen and wife Ivey of Laurinburg, Steve Thigpen and wife Stephanie of Harrisburg, VA, Eric Thigpen and wife Sonya of Hampstead; a brother, Ernest Thigpen of Bishopville, SC; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00pm Tuesday April 4th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests donation to be given in Mr. Thigpen’s memory to the Wagram Church of God, PO Box 491Wagram, NC 28396.

So sorry for your loss. We always enjoyed having Mr. Thigpen visiting New Hope Church in Johnsonville, SC when he would travel with Rev. Harry Clark. I know he will truly be missed by his family and close friends. Renee Edgeworth Harrell

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss . I enjoyed talking with Mr. Thigpen when
he came in the office. He was someone that you could tell within minutes of talking with, that he loved the Lord God , his wife and family.

Thigpen family....I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Willie Mack was a great man. I enjoyed many talks with him in the past when he would visit the plant. Much love to the family during this difficult time. He is rejoicing with the Lord!

Sorry for your loss! I didnt know Mr Thigpen personally, but i have heard numerous stories from my uncle James C. Walters who worked with Willie Mack for many years at Hasty Plywood.
