Georgia Mae Strickland Locklear



Georgia Mae Strickland Locklear, age 82 passed away at her home on Tuesday April 11, 2017.

Georgia was born September 24, 1935 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Casper Strickland and Bessie Bell Strickland. She retired after 33 years of service from St. Andrews University. Her favorite past-times were gardening, sewing, cooking, and most of all spending time with her family. Georgia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will truly be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Melissa Diane Locklear.

She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Wilbert Hamer Locklear of the home; her daughters, Georgia Carolyn Locklear, Patricia Gail Locklear and Welda Lee Locklear all of Laurinburg; a brother, Cliffton Strickland of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren, Matthew Hargrove, Ronald Locklear, Ronda Broddie, Sharonda Locklear, Charles Callahan Jr., Crystal Locklear, Michael McDowell, Rachel Hardin; nine great grandchildren, Lauren McDowell, Cody McDowell, Adreena Bryant, Donald Bryant Jr., Drayson Bryant, Autumn Haynes, Scarlette Norton, Christopher Brown, Daniel Brown and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday April 14, 2017 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Earl Henderson. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 2:00- 3:00 p. m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
