Jennie Chavis Adcox, 79 of Laurel Hill, formerly of Lumberton, passed away on Friday May 12, 2017 at Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.

Jennie was born March 26, 1938 in Richmond County, daughter to the late William Chavis and Ollie English Chavis Hill. She was a wonderful homemaker and very loving to her family and to her community. She was gifted in being a friend to those in need.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Alvin F. Adcox, Sr.; her brother Grover Chavis and sisters Minnie Ruth Sweat and Madeline Malloy.

Jennie is survived by her sons, Fletcher Adcox of Laurel Hill and David Adcox of Raleigh; brothers, Hurley Chavis of Laurel Hill and Carson Chavis of Wake Forest; sisters Lillian Guinn and Glennie Chavis, both of Hamlet; grandchildren, Derrick Adcox (Emily) and Miranda Adcox both of Laurel Hill; four great grandchildren; a special friend, Calvin Locklear of Laurel Hill; several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
