Obituary


Cleo Leavan “Van” Gibson, age 64 of Laurel Hill passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017.

Cleo was a son of the late Shelton Gibson, Sr., and Helen Leviner Gibson born November 20, 1952 in Scotland County. Before his illness, he worked as a machine operator with F.C.C. He loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter of deer, dove and rabbit. He enjoyed raising Beagles for hunting. Van also enjoyed playing cards especially the game of poker. His happiest times were those spent with his family and going hunting with his buddy, Johnny Cribb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Shelton Gibson, Jr.

Surviving are his special companion, Sarah "Lib" Faircloth of Laurel Hill; his children, son, Michael Van Gibson (Trolie) of Laurel Hill; his daughters, Brandy Gibson and Helena Gibson Stubbs (Lee) both of Hamlet, Alicia Bryant, Danielle Leviner (Wilbert, Jr., ), all of Laurel Hill; sister, Teresa Jacobs; sister-in-law, Elease Gibson; grandchildren, Michael Gibson II, Isabella Stubbs, Emma Stubbs, Damion Quick, Khloe Quick, Blaze Quick, Christopher Leviner, Cassey Leviner, Kaleigh Leviner; his nieces, nephews, many cousins and a host of family and friends.

Memorial donations are requested to be given in his memory to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

The family will have a time of fellowship on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
