Marlene Chavis Hunt



Marlene Chavis Hunt, age 59 of Pembroke, formerly of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Vincent Locklear and Rev. Gary Chavis. Burial will follow in Stewartsville Cemetery.

Marlene was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on February 23, 1958, a loving daughter to Deloise Jacobs Chavis and the late Hoover Chavis. She graduated from Smith High School in Greensboro. Marlene married Jimmie Hunt on February 23, 1992 and they were blessed with a beautiful family. She was a faithful wife and homemaker for twenty six years, and a loving grandmother of five grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, baking and collectibles, gardening and traveling to the mountains and coast.

She is preceded death by her father, Hoover Chavis; paternal grandparents, John D. and Ida Chavis and maternal grandmother, Lizzy Jacobs.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Jimmie Hunt, her two sons, Telford “Ray” Chavis and Glenn “Bo” Cummings; her mother, Deloise Chavis; two sisters, Sherry C. Locklear and Tammie C. Locklear; a brother, Bobby Ray Chavis and a host of nieces, nephews, many friends and loving family.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 20th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
