Mable Short Thrush



Pastor Mable Short Thrush, age 80 of Laurinburg, formerly of Rockingham passed away to her Heavenly home on Friday, March 16, 2018.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Bruce Blackmon. Burial will follow in the Richmond County Memorial Park.

Mable was a loving daughter of the late John Edward Short and Matilda Wright Short born in Franklin, Tennessee on February 11, 1938. In 1944, she was known as the smallest cowgirl in the world on the Wild West Show. She was a loving homemaker, devoted wife to the late Robert Wallace Thrush, Sr., and a wonderful mother of three children. Mable served the Lord faithfully as an Evangelist sharing God’s word with all she encountered. She served as the pastor for the Revival Center in Rockingham and president of International Missions. She will always be remembered for her legacy of love and service to Christ her family.

She leaves behind her children, daughters, Bobbie Jean “BJ” Tarkington of Chesterfield, VA, Katilda Blackmon (Bruce) of Laurinburg and son, Robert Wallace Thrush, Jr., (Cornelia) of Pinehurst; brothers, George Short of Rockingham, William Short of Hamlet; sisters, Ella Fields and Marie Sale both of Rockingham; her grandchildren, David Blackmon, Andrew Blackmon, Olga Paine, Arrenda Moore, Jonathan Thrush, Hannah Thrush and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
