Sadie Mae Epps Dukes



Sadie Mae Epps Dukes, age 74 of Maxton passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24th, 2018 at the Union Light Baptist Church with burial following in the Epps Family Cemetery.

Sadie was a daughter of the late Matthew William “MW” Epps and Dora Lee Branch Epps born June 1, 1944 in Robeson County. She was a devoted homemaker and retired after many years of service from the Eaton Corporation. Sadie was a longtime member of the Union Light Baptist Church and loved reading her Bible. One of her favorite pastimes was working in her flowers and garden. She loved her family and will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a treasured sister.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Mark Epps, Graham Epps and Edward Epps.

Sadie leaves behind her husband Donald Ray Dukes of the home; sons, Phillip Ray Dukes and Ronald Dean Dukes (Cheryl) of Maxton; brothers, Clyde Epps (Estelle) of Maxton, Varsie Epps (Carolyn) of Red Springs, Joseph “Ike” Epps (Deborah) of Maxton, Lucius “Porkey” Epps (Vera) of Maxton; sisters, Arletha Epps and Ruby Clark both of Maxton, Betty Johnson of Laurinburg, Hattie Beck (Lacy) of Hamlet, Zelma Scott, Lillian Hoback (Kelly), Geraldine Epps, Connie Caulder all of Maxton and Doretha Epps of Ocean Isle Beach; grandchildren, Justin Ray Jones and MacKenzie Lyn Dukes and a host of loving family and friends.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23rd at Union Light Baptist Church, 259 Union Light Church Road, Maxton, NC.
