Obituary

Gladys Cooper James, age 72 of Red Springs passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Mount Zion Pentecostal Church officiated by Rev. Andrew Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Gladys, a loving daughter of the late Henry H. Cooper and Inez L. Cooper was born December 17, 1945 in Scotland County. She retired after many years of service from J.P. Stevens. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed going to church and making flower arrangements. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will truly be missed.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Cooper and Hilton Cooper.

Gladys leaves behind her husband of fifty one years, Bobby Allen James; sons, Timothy James (Debbie) of Hamlet, Anthony James (Ammie) of Wagram; daughter, Susie James Pino (Richard) of Red Springs; brothers, Woodrow Cooper (Floscine), Robert Cooper (Vickie), Thomas Cooper (Theresa), James Cooper, Henry Cooper (Janice); sisters, Geneva Hill (D.C.), Lucille Brayboy (Ronnie); grandchildren, Maura Locklear (Samuel), Cari Pino, Cierra James, Richard K. Pino, Chassidy Brewer, Emily Goins, Casey Caulder, Chris Jacobs; great grandchildren, Samara Locklear, Nevaeh Jacobs, Jessany Jacobs, Avah Locklear, Nelson Locklear, Cieanna Jacobs, Lily Jacobs; special friends, Floscine Cooper, Deloris Oxendine, Linda Carpenter; a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Mount Zion Pentecostal Church, 9677 Hwy 72 W, Pembroke, NC 28382.
