Paul Judson Smith, Sr., age 86 of Wagram passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018.
Paul was a son of the late Emmet Corneilus Smith and Reca Connely Smith born March 23, 1931 in Wagram, North Carolina. He was the last living member of a decedent from Daniel White who founded Spring Hill Baptist Church. He graduated from Wagram High School and enlisted with the United States Air Force. He was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served as an Airman and also with the Military Police. Paul has been a farmer since 1954, retired from Burlington Industries after many years of service and was the owner and operator of Wagram Esso for more than 30 years. He was a lifelong member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church where he served on several committees and as a Deacon for many years. He supported his community in both business and as a volunteer with the Wagram Fire Department and the Wagram Men’s Club.
Paul was proud of his history in the Riverton Community. He enjoyed walking Riverton and the shores on Sunset Beach. He was also an ACC basketball and football fan, especially for the NC State Wolf Pack and found great pleasure in working in his yard. Above all, Paul loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his legacy of love and honor to his family, church, country and community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Woodard Smith; siblings, Rebecca Smith, Virginia Smith, Emmett C. Smith, Jr., Hazeline Ellers and Annie Laura Johnson.
Paul leaves behind his children, Paul Judson Smith, Jr., (Lisa Inman Currie) of Wagram and Kimberly Alison Smith Alford (Dale Alford) of Zebulon and their mother, Virginia Stanton Hunnicutt of Calabash. He is also survived by a host of loving family and many friends.

Celebrating the life of Paul Judson Smith, Sr.
Thank you for signing Paul Judson Smith, Sr. 's Guestbook
Mr. Smith was one of life's rare treasures that God allowed to come into our lives. He was a sweet, kind, caring, compassionate, thankful, humble man. He was full of wisdom and shared it with us each time we talked. We were blessed to be able to spend many hours of quality time with him. He loved his children with all of his heart and always told those around him how well they took care of him. He appreciated any and everything that you did for him and he would always tell you that he did. He never complained but always spoke good things. He loved his life and he loved Wagram and especially his "little piece of heaven" there. My family's life has been richly blessed by knowing and loving Mr. Paul Smith. He will forever live on in our hearts and thoughts. We have been honored to feel like a part of his family. Our love, prayers and support are with you Judson and Kim. May God wrap His loving arms around you during this difficult time and fill you with peace that only He can give.
