Mildred Hammonds Mace, age 84 of Bennettsville, SC departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
She was the daughter to the late George Allen Hammonds and Annie Mae Chavis Hammonds born September 8, 1939 in Marlboro County, SC.
Mildred was fondly known as Nancy or “The Sheriff” by her family and friends. “The Sheriff”. She faithfully served as a member of the Youth for Christ Church in Maxton, NC for more that 40 years. Mildred loved helping and visiting others where she could share her faith and love of Christ. She loved reading her Bible, cooking and baking, and was well known for her delicious Red Velvet Cakes. Above all, Mildred loved sharing time with her family. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving son, Ronald Melvin Quick; grandson, Jason Barton Quick; brothers, Stephen Hammonds, Allen Hammonds, Jr., Billy Hammonds, Eddie Hammonds, and Gene Hammonds.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Quick Strong (Ricky) of Gibson, Victoria Lynn Quick of the home; and son, Donald Allen Quick (Carolyn) of Red Springs; her adored grandchildren, Jonathan Allen (Marlena), Alexis Cheyanne (Casper); adored great-grandchildren, Jayden Alexander, Jameson Riley, Kayelyn Alena, and Madison Brielle; granddaughter-in-law, Leah Quick; and special family friend, Marley Locklear; along with many loving extended family and friends.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Pinecrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the services on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
