Paul Lester Painter



Paul Lester Painter, age 90 of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow with military honor at Hillside Memorial Park.

Paul was born on May 1, 1928 in Scotland County, a son of the late Elijah Thomas Painter and Lois Caulder Painter. He proudly served in the Merchant Marines from 1945 until retiring in 1997 as an electrician on a surface fleet. During his service, he served in World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Storm. He loved being on the water and working on the ship. One of his favorite pass times was telling stories of his service and travel. Paul served as a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church. He was devoted to his family and truly loved sharing time with each of them.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Erlington Painter, Jesse Painter, Remert Painter and sister, Bessie P. Pate.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Pattie Sue Watts Painter of the home; daughters, Annette Bowyer and special son-in-law, Buck of Laurinburg, Linda Denise Painter Knight of the home; grandchildren, Jason White, Courtney Stutts and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
