Obituary

Gilbert Robert “Bob” Waldron, Sr., age 83 of Laurinburg, formerly of Maxton passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Bob was born in Peekskill, New York on June 16, 1935. He was the son of the late Gilbert N. & Ruth S. Waldron.


Bob was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Past Master of Maxton Masonic Lodge #417 four times. He served with Maxton Fire Department as Chief, member of Maxton Rescue Squad and the American Legion Post # 50. He retired from the Town of Maxton. Bob served his country in the United States Navy, United States Army and the Florida National Guard.

Mr. Waldron is survived by his wife Beverley DePriest Waldron of the home; a son, Gilbert R. Waldron, Jr. of Fitzgerald, GA (Aneice), daughter, Robin Marie Waldron of Greensboro; a granddaughter, Danielle Scerbo of Charlotte, NC and three grandsons, Nicholas Charles, Jarret Robert, and Christopher G. Scerbo of Greensboro, NC, sister, Alice Leary of Lima, Ohio; brother, Edward Waldron of West Palm Beach, FL and sister, Lynn Trocchia of Hayesville, NC. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Waldron and a sister, Janice Huphreys.

A memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by the Pastor Michael Malpass. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at New Hope Baptist Church. A private interment will be at a later date.
