William Ronald "Ronnie" Mercer, Sr., age 76 of Laurinburg passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
Ronnie was born on October 10, 1941 in Robeson County, a son of the late William Thurman “WT” Mercer and Dolly Virginia Lewis Mercer. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force. He retired after many years as a Sales Manager for Car Quest. He served as a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed golfing, reading and motorcycle riding. Ronnie was a true family man who will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wayne Mercer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” Mercer of the home; son, William “Bill” Ronald Mercer, Jr. (Lois) of Raleigh; daughter, Donna Rebecca (Earl) Sampson of Pinehurst; grandchildren, Amanda and Jon Bernadina, Heather Mercer, Kristen and Matt Jorgensen and great granddaughter, Hazel Marie Bernadina.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Michael Malpass. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Memorial donations are requested to be given in Ronnie’s memory to New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 11480 Hasty Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
