Jeffery Daniel Strong



Jeffery Daniel Strong, age 58 of Raleigh, formerly of Maxton passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Sycamore Hill Holiness Church in Maxton with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Eddie Carter and Rev. Horace Oxendine will officiate the services.

Jeffery was a son of the late James “Buddy” Strong and Thelma Locklear Strong born March 22, 1959 in Scotland County, North Carolina. He retired from UPS after 25 years of service and was currently employed with Mutual Distributing in Raleigh. He always put God first, loved sports, driving, listening to music and dancing. Jeffery was a former quarterback for the Maxton State Championship Football Team and played quarterback for Fayetteville State University and North Carolina State University. His favorite times were those he shared with his two children, his grandson, London, and his loving family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Kather Ann Faircloth, Carline Strong; brothers, Kermit Locklear, J.T. “Peter Will” Strong, Rev. Jerry “Gerald” Strong, James Strong, Eddie Strong and Mitchell Strong.

Jeffery leaves behind his daughter, Stephanie Strong and her son, London Strong of Morrisville; his son, Daniel Strong of Tarboro and their mother, Nancy Strong of Tarboro; special friend, Linda Chavis Dial of Rowland; brothers, Earl Strong of Laurinburg, Ricky Strong of Gibson; sisters, Mary Helen Jacobs Locklear of Pembroke, Barbara Ann Locklear, Patricia Haggans, Linda Locklear all of Maxton, Brenda Strong of Fayetteville and a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10th at Richard Boles Funeral Service,

The family requests memorial donations be given in Jeffery’s memory to the NCSU Wolfpack Club.
