Robert Devane Deese, Sr.



Robert Devane Deese, Sr. age 69 of Maxton passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Dr. Glenn Harris and Rev. Fredrick Locklear. A private interment will be at a later date.

Robert was a son of the late James W. and Magelene McGirt Deese born May 6, 1948 in Maxton, North Carolina. He was the loving husband of 28 years to the late Betty Strickland Deese. He retired after many years of service from the Campbell Soup Company. Robert was a dedicated fireman of 30 years with the Queheel Fire Department where he was currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was also served as a Board member for the Robeson Emergency Mobile Specialist and the Washington DC Masonic Lodge. Robert was devoted to his family and community. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and truly loved sharing time with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by all of his brothers.

Robert leaves behind his children; son, Robert “Bobby” Deese, Jr. and wife Heather of West Virginia; daughters, Kimberly Dawn Deese Chambers and wife Jennifer of North Carolina, Heather Deese Fontenot and husband Kendrick of Sumter, SC; sisters, Elizabeth Marshall of Maxton, Magelene Kilton and Pauline Deese both of Laurinburg; his grandchildren, Hannah Deese, Macy Deese, Kamron Fontenot, Kinsleigh Fontenot, and Makayla Chambers and a host of loving family and friends and his fellow firemen.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
